A few thoughts about finding balance in our life.

Have you ever noticed that some people are all about work?  Have you ever noticed that some people are all about playing?  Of course!  We all know people that will fit into both areas.  However, it is likely more difficult to find those that follow the title of this blog, "Work Hard to Play Hard."

There are great benefits to working hard.  Proverbs even mentions in essence that if you don't work hard, you don't deserve to eat.  That is pretty straight forward.  Work being hard goes back to the Garden of Eden.  It wasn't that we were not going to have to work in God's creation, but it wasn't going to be hard.  However, as a result of Adam's sin, work became hard...and not always fun.

On the other side, playing hard is most rewarding if we worked hard first, at least for most humans.  There are some folks that seemingly play hard all the time and appear that life is just grand, however, if we could truly see what they felt, we would not always want "their life".

So, you may ask, what is with all the rambling?  Glad you asked.  We need balance in our lives.  There is a time to work and there is a time to play.  I know for myself, I feel fulfilled when I know that I have worked hard and the finished product was as it should be.  Then, I deserve that time to play and that time is so much enjoyable and refreshing.

What do we work hard at?  1) Relationships - God, spouse, children, others  2) Jobs - do it as if we were doing it for God 3) Playing - some folks have a difficult time having a good time...I can be like that sometimes...supposed to be "playing" but thinking about "work".  You ever been there?

Let us ask God for balance in all areas of our life.  If Jesus is not number One in your life, then you will never find the joy it is to play in His presence.  However, you can change that by asking Him to forgive you of your sins and become Lord of your life.  Then and only then will you begin to see the balance needed to come into your life.
